Honestly, I am not one of those authors who feels compelled to hit readers with that “buy my book, buy my book” mantra. But I want to share a great deal for Kindle readers who enjoy mysteries. My publisher, Bloodhound Books, has created a digital boxset of the first three books in my Isabel Long Mystery Series at ta-da! the bargain price of $5.99. UK readers that’s £3.92.
The books include Chasing the Case, Redneck’s Revenge, and Checking the Traps, featuring journalist-turned-sleuth Isabel Long solving cold cases in the fictional hilltowns of Western Massachusetts. Here’s the link: https://geni.us/IsabelLongMysteries
Each book sells far more on Amazon than $5.99.
As a bargain hunter myself — most of my wardrobe and many of the items in our home used to belong to somebody else — I am pleased to see people already opting for this Kindle deal. Frankly, I didn’t know Kindle boxsets existed.
And my hope is that readers who do get so hooked, they move onto the rest of the series, which now numbers eight. (I will be diving into number nine after I finish the book I am currently writing, The Unforgiving Town.)
Here a brief synopsis for each:
Chasing the Case: Isabel Long has had a bad year. Her husband died unexpectedly, and she lost her job as editor-in-chief of a newspaper. Now, with time on her hands, Isabel decides to investigate a cold case that was her first big story as a rookie reporter —about a woman who disappeared twenty-eight years ago in her small town. To research further—and to make ends meet—she takes a job at the local watering hole, where she can get up close and personal with those connected to the mystery. But getting too close to the truth can be dangerous.
Redneck’s Revenge: Soon after solving her first case, Isabel Long finds herself facing new challenges. Her relationship with Jack has ended, and the police are insisting she must work for a licensed private investigator before going solo. With encouragement from her sidekick—her ninety-two-year-old mother—Isabel finds a new case. Chet Waters burned to death when his house caught fire and he was too drunk to escape. At least, that’s the official ruling. His daughter, who inherited his junkyard, believes he was murdered.
Checking the Traps: Isabel Long is still suffering from injuries as the result of her last investigation. But that doesn’t stop her from working at a bar or taking on a new case from Gary Beaumont, a local drug dealer who once terrorized her. Convinced his half-brother didn’t jump off the bridge known as a suicide spot, Gary is certain somebody pushed him. With some investigative help from her mother, Isabel soon unearths a list of suspects, including Gary’s business associates and a famous poet who plagiarized his brother’s work for an award-winning book.
